Community Living

Project

In this project I looked at creating a community space in the site of Climbing Depot, Nottingham. Because of the St Anns community issue of increased crime rates due to the Radburn housing style, I want to use barter as a retail system which I hope will bring people together and enrich the community.

I also envision this retail space to be 10-20 years in the future where people will want to have a more fulfilling shopping experience which will not be monetary based.

The need for thresholds in architecture is questioned here. Is it needed to keep people out of spaces? Is it needed to separate one place from another? And if so, how do I do it without making it obvious. For this, I looked at various forms of concealment like Push, Peel and Roll.
