The Third Place- Beauty of Impermanence
In today’s fast-paced, hyper-digital era, we all crave spaces that allow us to slow down, connect, and truly be present. Set against the storied backdrop of the Canal House in Nottingham, The Third Place transforms industrial heritage into a living, breathing hub- a third space that transcends the everyday boundaries of home and work.
This illustration captures an experiential walk through the Third Place, an in-between space where time slows, noise fades, and each fleeting moment invites presence. Between home and work, it offers pause, connection, and quiet celebration of the now. A transient yet profound journey that draws us beyond the everyday.
Research
The cultural journey from Nottingham Castle to Canal House is lively and vibrant. It begins with bustling tourist attractions, cafés, and the statue of Robin Hood, flowing through busy streets into creative spaces such as Nottingham Contemporary and the Central Library. Tranquil areas like Green Heart Park and the picturesque canal bridge provide serene moments. On bustling days, there’s an energetic atmosphere filled with commuters, travelers, shoppers, and café patrons. By the canal, activity peaks as individuals cycle, walk, feed ducks, fish, boat, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll—reflecting the city’s lively rhythm at every step.
