This project aims to transform the abandoned worker’s cottage in Ambergate into a future co-housing community where residents share resources, energy, knowledge, and interests - living together in harmony with nature. It’s more than just a cottage; it’s a living community deeply connected to the natural world. Currently, this is the concept development phase, not the final design.
The main concept is to express the “Empathy between humans and nature”. To achieve this, I conducted metaphysical studies through on-site sketches, created a conceptual model inspired by the five human senses, and synthesized a final design reflecting parallels between the human body and natural elements.
Research
Based on series of experimental models, I developed ideas for the final concept model based on the functional similarities between the parts of the human body and elements in nature to express the main concept "Empathy of human & Nature":
1. Human lungs and green trees – the twin lungs of life
2. Skin and leaf surface – nature’s outer shield
3. Blood vessels and flowing rivers – life sustained by constant flow
