Curious By Nature
Design Studio 01

Project
Inspired by La Zouch’s seasonal forest scents, this retail interior transforms curiosity into a sensory experience. Playing on the irony of being “curious by nature,” the space invites exploration through frosted glass boxes that conceal each scent. Visitors are drawn to interact—touch, open, and discover—mirroring the instinctive pull of nature. Each scent, derived from Leicestershire’s woodlands, is revealed through intentional design moments that blend architecture with aroma. The result is an immersive journey where curiosity guides the path and nature is both discovered and designed.
Spatial Concept
The interior concept taps into human curiosity by creating a sensory journey through architectural form. The space uses frosted glass enclosures as sensory thresholds—inviting visitors to pause, engage, and uncover hidden aromas. A non-linear layout guides movement organically, encouraging exploration. Diffused lighting, textured natural materials, and varying spatial volumes evoke the feeling of wandering through a forest. Each design element is curated to heighten sensory awareness, making scent a spatial experience. Curiosity drives the user’s interaction, transforming the interior into a journey of discovery
