Repetation of a pattern

Research
This research clearly highlights the building’s history of serving multiple functions, yet always remaining deeply rooted in its past. One of its most significant early roles was as a lace factory, which played a key part in shaping its identity. In my design, I aimed to preserve the essence of this heritage by making lace a central, representational element—both symbolically and spatially—throughout the concept.
Project
Based on the site’s history and my research, I designed a craft shop that sells art supplies and hosts crochet lessons. The concept embraces the building’s heritage as a Lace Factory, blending its past and present. The design also addresses the building’s lack of natural light by focusing on effective lighting and interactive light games.
I drew inspiration from crochet’s repetitive patterns, integrating this into the interior by connecting planes to the building’s columns, creating a melting, tree-like structure. To further enhance the concept, I added niches in the walls, featuring natural stone ceaturing natural stone covers that align with the design pattern. These niches also serve as display areas.
