2085 Narrative

In the year 2085, technology and generative AI have taken over daily life, leaving people disconnected from the physical world. Businesses struggle to make money in an AI-run economy, so they begin stealing people’s data and digital footprints to target them more effectively, with full government support. This invasion of privacy causes public outrage. People fear for their future and their children’s lives. In response, a group called Solera is formed. They reject this system and aim to raise awareness, choosing instead to live in a simpler, more honest way. Solera embraces analogue craft, focusing on handmade printing, making of ink and a return to real, meaningful living.

Spatial Concept

My design focuses on mechanical and steel joinery, inspired by the armatures I built to aid in my leaflet-making process. These leaflets reflect the type of work produced within the space. To explore layering and distortion, key themes in my design, I created mechanical arms to hold blocking panels, enabling more depth than I could achieve alone. The space itself is designed around the journey of ink, guiding it through channels, surfaces, and folds that respond to its natural movement. Every element, from structure to material, reacts to the behaviour of ink, allowing it to pool, absorb, or break apart, making the process and material central to the experience of the space.
