2085 Narrative

In 2085, people live isolated in decaying homes, consumed by virtual reality and disconnected from the physical world. Years of sensory neglect have led to an outbreak of Sensory Decay Syndrome, a condition where the senses fade and emotional presence is lost.

In response to the outbreak, the Department of Human Remembrance was created to establish the Sensory Repair Center, through water therapy, helping people recover what they have lost. This organisation leads them to Hydra6, a facility hidden within the remains of Papplewick Pumping Station, urging individuals to leave their screens behind. They follow a six-step journey that reawakens their senses one by one: smell, touch, hear, see, taste, and feel.

Spatial Concept

The ritual begins as visitors enter through the chimney where rushing water creates a sensory vacuum, isolating them from the outside world and preparing them for transformation. They move through six immersive spaces, each designed to reawaken a lost sense and deepen re-connection. Smell is revived with natural fragrances that spark memory and emotion. The touch area invites contact with flowing water and varied textures to encourage physical awareness. Sounds of water and nature fill the hearing space, calming the mind. The sight space uses light and reflections to sharpen perception. Taste is gently awakened through subtle natural flavors. Finally, the feel space surrounds visitors with warm water and soothing sensations, completing sensory restoration and emotional healing.
