2085 Narrative

Whether through Science, Art, or Philosophy, the human quest for knowledge is driven by an innate need to belong, to feel a part of something vast and eternal. In every discovery, we are reminded that the universe is not a distant, unreachable expanse but a living, breathing entity to which we are intrinsically linked. The pursuit of understanding is the pursuit of connection, and through it, we find meaning in the infinite. However, AI may lead to a future where we never make discoveries for ourselves, because instead of engaging in research and exploration, we’re simply told what’s right—AI figures it out for us, leaving no room for the science, discovery, or adventure that come from the process of figuring things out on our own.

Spatial Concept

The building is designed for time-travelling. By 2085, time machines will have already become a reality. The Boiler Room serves as the ritual’s core. Step 1 begins with 12 travellers forming a circle around a fire, symbolising the sun and the cycle of time. Step 2 involves cleansing with infused water and meditating on time’s passage. In Step 3, the Leader adjusts the Astrolabe to a precise celestial position, activating the temporal coordinates. Once prepared, travellers move through a tunnel to the Engine House, where the time machine is housed. The ritual concludes by extinguishing the fire, signifying the end of a cycle. Above, the mezzanine floor functions as a data analysis centre for tracking anomalies and also serves as a resting area.
