2085 Narrative

The Archive of the Artisans is shown through this tapestry-inspired composition, capturing the banned rituals of creativity at Papplewick. The hands symbolise the sacredness of making and the unity of the artists. Rubbish, the only resource, forms the background, with hints of shredding, binding, and pressing. In the foreground, artists approach the heat press powered by the original pumps. The border uses shapes drawn from the kinetoscope’s cogs, embedding the spirit of human creativity throughout the design.

Spatial Concept

This visual captures the heart of the workshop space, where artists are actively engaged in shredding, binding, and preparing waste materials for the heat press as they construct their creations. It’s here that creativity reaches its peak.
At the back, a feature wall displays marble diamond shapes that echo the perforated brick beside it—a form inspired by the overlaid cogs of the kinetoscope. Embedded within a living green moss wall is the symbol, the abstracted outline of the kinetoscope and its cogs. This same symbol that appeared during the VR headset glitch, guiding the artists to Papplewick Pumping Station and marking the beginning of their journey back to human creativity.
