2086 Narrative

By 2086, the UK operates as a marketplace. Following the post-work reforms of 2040, human
purpose was lost, leading to extreme overconsumption, in order to conform to the increased
social acceptance strains of society. The landfills overflowed, with the government resorting to
openly dumping waste in the UK. This forced priority zones, known as Viridium, to be created,
leaving the rest of the UK dilapidated, known as Noxara. Toxic leachate from the landfill seeped
into the water system, with high levels of PFAS, slowly killing the population.

Spatial Concept

A rebel group, The Clarifiers, sought out a method of removing the PFAS in order to provide a survival point for the population of Noxara. This survival point, in the form of the reused lace market car park, harnesses a large activated carbon filter, allowing the population to collect clean and safe drinking water. The building also acts as an escape for the people, allowing them to reset their nervous system in order for them to cope with their extreme living environment.
