Infusions of Time
Clepsydra

2085 Narrative
In 2085, Papplewick Pumping Station is reborn as the first Place of Human Remembrance in a world fractured by digital dependence. Water, now rare and sacred, is gently heated using Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, not for industry, but for tea-making rituals. At its heart stands a Greek clepsydra, marking time with each drop. The surrounding Tea House fosters real conversation and shared experience, replacing virtual connection. Amid rusted machines, Papplewick becomes a sanctuary where energy becomes ceremony, time is sacred, and humanity reconnects with the earth, reminding us that the future begins with a sip.
Spatial Concept
This project draws deeply from the ritualistic and sensory traditions of the tea house, reinterpreting it through a personal lens shaped by experimentation with material, time, and movements. Rather than reproducing a traditional tea house, the proposal captures its essence, a space for reflection, slowness, and connection through a series of conceptual and material transformations.
