Mixed Use

Hero Image

Project

Electra Park is a visionary mixed-use redevelopment located at the decommissioned Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station. The scheme reimagines one of the site's iconic cooling towers as a dynamic leisure hub featuring indoor skydiving, climbing, and ziplining revitalising the industrial structure as a centrepiece of activity. Encircling the tower, a network of contemporary retail units integrates leisure with commerce, activating the surrounding public realm.

Project

The project embraces principles of adaptive reuse and sustainable architecture by repurposing the existing cooling tower minimising demolition waste and conserving embodied carbon. The design celebrates the site’s industrial heritage while introducing bold architectural forms and landscape connections, transforming a redundant site into a vibrant destination.

A key research component of the project investigates how visual experiences influence consumer behaviour and engagement, informing the spatial layout and environmental design strategies.
