Project

This design proposes a sustainable and modern shopping centre with a strong focus on green infrastructure. The building features green roofs, curved balconies with planted terraces, and a large glazed central entrance. A landscaped public plaza with trees, hedges, and a central fountain creates a welcoming and vibrant outdoor space. The use of natural materials and an open layout promotes a pedestrian-friendly, community-focused environment in the heart of Nottingham.

Spatial Concept

Viewed from the public plaza, the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre presents a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The space is defined by formal landscaping, with symmetrical tree arrangements, hedges, and a central water feature that encourage gathering and relaxation. The building’s transparent glazed entrance acts as a focal point, creating a strong visual connection between the indoor retail space and the outdoor plaza. Surrounding curved balconies with integrated greenery soften the building's mass and enhance the welcoming character of this civic space.
