Mixed Use

Research
By transforming the disused control room of the former
Barking Power Station, this project aims to create a
burgeoning work/study space for the existing, current and
future populations of Barking Riveside. Located within the
Barking Riverside Development — one of Europe’s largest
regeneration projects — the mixed-use building will feature
public and private work spaces for students, professionals or
anyone who simply wants to get out of the house.
Project
By implementing ‘Third Place’ design principles, the proposal
will create spaces that feel comfortable and warm, using
openness, furniture layouts and lighting. This will invariably
encourage and actively promote social interaction.
