Project

Severn Edge Grandstand Media Centre represents a thoughtful redevelopment of Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s South Stand at the venerable New Road ground in Worcester. This ambitious proposal seeks to elevate the match day experience through the provision of state of the art spectator facilities, refined hospitality suites and seamless circulation routes. Beyond the boundary ropes, the scheme fosters stronger community ties by introducing versatile event spaces and adaptable sports areas, ensuring year round activation of the site. Careful attention to the Club’s storied past underpins the design, while contemporary interventions position New Road as a vibrant focal point for both sport and social engagement throughout the region.

Project

The Severn Edge Grandstand Media Centre delivers a contemporary extension to Worcester’s New Road South Stand. Enhanced spectator facilities include tiered seating with improved sightlines, concourses and upgraded amenities, while hospitality suites offer panoramic views and flexible lounge areas. Thoughtful circulation routes ensure efficient access for players, media and fans, reducing congestion on match days. Beyond cricket, multipurpose event spaces accommodate local sports, exhibitions and educational programmes, fostering community involvement throughout the year. Material choices and architectural detailing pay homage to the Club’s heritage, marrying traditional brickwork with modern glazing to establish a social and sporting hub for the region.
