Project
This project proposes a new film campus for NTU in response to the evolving film industry and the growing influence of AI. It creates a hybrid environment where traditional and emerging filmmaking methods are taught, developed, and integrated. Structured around the core stages of filmmaking—pre-production, production, and post-production—the school is divided into three distinct architectural elements. Pre- and post-production are housed in separate buildings flanking a central public hub that fosters collaboration. Production facilities sit on the ground floor and beneath the plinth, offering flexible workshops and studios for hands-on learning. This shared realm supports interaction between students and professionals, preparing students for a rapidly changing creative landscape.
Spatial Concept
The spatial concept centres on transparency, light, and honest expression. The pre and post-production blocks are anchored by a central public atrium, the social and spatial heart of the campus. Smaller light-filled atriums punctuate the linear blocks, separating large specialised spaces from smaller seminar rooms, while drawing users through the building with natural light. This play of light adds depth and dynamism to interior spaces, animating circulation routes and learning environments. The deliberate placement of structure and circulation enables a clear and legible installation of services and artificial lighting. Exposed elements celebrate the building’s functional logic, an architectural expression of clarity, openness, and craft.
