Project
My goal for this project is to achieve the creative of a creativity hub right in the heart of Newark on trent, located on the grounds of Newark Castle ruins. The conservation of the environment is a key aspect of this project, in alignment with PassivHaus principles, the RIBA 2030 Climate challenge benchmarks and producing a building which has minimum negative impact on the environment through careful design decisions and strategies as well as prioritizing efficiency and practicality. Inclusivity, community and creativity will be heavily focused on - ensuring that the historic and cultural site of Newark Castle is completely respected and uplifted by the addition of my building, enriching the community and increasing the appeal of the area.
Project
The architectural program will consist of spaces such as open communal workshop areas for artists to socialize, share skills and work together or alongside each other; individual artist studios which can be rented out; a flexible events space, utilized for a wide range of activities such as hosting guest speakers, displaying exhibitions, serving as a market space for local artists to display and sell their work, further workshop space, awards events and much more, opening new doors and opportunities as well as bringing together people from all types of different backgrounds , allowing them to connect and share skills. This space is also accompanied by a bar and cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating which will be respectfully integrated into the rest of the site.
