Echo Of Water
Atelier 03: Resonant memories: Echoes of the past, harmonics of renewal

Project
Echo of Water explores the relationship between water, music, and space, asking how architecture can be a space of healing, reflection, and sensory experience. The project is inspired by the idea of water dividing space and space dividing water – creating a dialogue between the built form and the River Trent at Newark Town Wharf. Water is not a boundary but an active element that defines movement, atmosphere and emotional experience. Curved forms inspired by ripples and flowing motion arrange a series of therapeutic, meditative, musical, and communal spaces around a central theatre. Music is an invisible architectural layer that influences the rhythm, circulation and acoustic experiences. Echo of Water employs sound, water and spatial transitions to create moments of pause, reflection and
Project
The café and lounge space is conceived as a quiet reflective space that enhances the connection between water, atmosphere and emotional wellbeing. Large glazed openings frame soft views towards the river, making natural light, mist and changing weather conditions part of the interior experience. Warm timber finishes, intimate seating and subtle lighting help create a calming environment for visitors to pause, relax or socialise before and after performances. The space is intended as a sensory sanctuary in the city, with the presence of water and soft background music creating moments of stillness and reflection to reduce stress.
