The Moments Between
Atelier 03: Resonant memories: Echoes of the past, harmonics of renewal

Project
This scheme explores the ideas of “Reverie”.
To get lost in a wave of memory or nostalgia immerses anyone into the depths of their own mind. As found in music, so too can it be found within architecture - why not combine the best of both? My scheme is one that revolves around making memories with loved ones. Imagine yourself visiting to watch a loved one perform music or a routine. The sounds that are made, the sights that you see, forever ingrained in your memory.
The echoing of memories and how easy it is to get lost - that is the destination whilst away from this place. Whilst here however, it becomes the present experience; the precursor to everything else and thus births a state of mind, and a state of being.
Those are The Moments Between.
Sustainability
What if an Architect is a servant to the people’s physical and spiritual needs?
That is the reason I picked architecture; to help people the best I can. After that is satisfied may an architect indulge in their personal preferences, whether that may be a specific style or aesthetic. To care and to provide love for an environment and to be sustainable, even if it does not directly affect the architect, will remain long
after the architect goes.
My scheme includes glulam in substitution of steel where possible along with CLT structures off the lock side. The two main buildings on the Lock have deep brass clad walls with thick insulation and Mechanical Ventilation to ensure the scheme remains as self perpetuating as possible.
Help the environment, help the people.
