Project

The Scale Transport Museum brings a more hands-on and creative spin on a museum. Set in Newark-on-Trent, it celebrates the town’s rich transport history, from Roman roads to railway and River Trent. Visitors of all ages can get stuck into model-making, explore realistic dioramas and even see how things work through interactive X-ray. With spaces like the Imagination Room for creative minds and the Haptic Room for active learning, the museum makes sure everyone feels welcome and inspired.

Project

The museum’s design mirrors the movement and variety of transport itself. With all transport featuring sweeping curves and fast lines, the museum represents this. Visitors are taken on a journey through the different spaces. Externally there is a route to different pavilions, one for each mode of transport. Drawing from Newark Castle for inspiration, the building is rooted in the listed site.
