Atelier 01: Cabinet of Curiosities

Project
Civil War Museum - The museum was designed to evoke both personal and collective memories through a fully immersive sensory experience, engaging smell, touch, taste, hearing, and sight. Drawing inspiration from the history of the Civil War (particularly its connection to the city of Newark) the museum’s concept is deeply rooted in historical reflection. Architecturally, the design takes cues from the Gatehouse, Daniel Libeskind, and Peter Zumthor, whose work has influenced the creation of a space that not only houses history but allows visitors to physically and emotionally connect with it through sensory interaction.
Project
Gatehouse - The design of the Gatehouse was inspired by the Frayer and Robbin Pavilion, incorporating elements that support a rich sensory experience. Within this space, visitors are invited to explore their memories and emotions through touch, sound, and visual cues. It is intentionally crafted to facilitate both personal reflection and the shared experience of collective memory, encouraging a deeper emotional connection through sensory engagement.
