Project

We are designed to live, love and ultimately die. Grief welcomes these moments of our lives, serving as our bittersweet companion, encouraging us to navigate new emotions without abandoning or dismissing the past. This space, a true Bridge Between Two Worlds aims to represent the relationship between life and death by merging a place for all to say goodbye in the private crematorium, with an archive of letters and photographs in the bank of memories. Both sides are occupied by large communal areas, promoting togetherness and connection, and more secluded spaces, requiring contemplation and solace.

Project

Newark Castle presents a perfect backdrop of embracing the past in the present and looking toward a brighter future. The symbolism of preservation and sustainability perfectly intertwines with this sanctuary of solace. As time moves on and the archive of love through letters, photographs and artifacts begin to build up, and this space for reflection will become an eternal resting place for our lost loved ones. The poetic nature of this building allows you to feel your grief in the dark spaces but also guide you to the chambers of life encouraging introspection and healing.
