2086 Narrative
'The Resonance’ is a project based on a rebel group aiming to connect people together. Set in a dystopian 2086, AI has taken over all jobs. Society has been separated into sectors, and are encouraged to not speak to each other, and only to listen to the voice of AI. This space is designed for a rebel group which goes against this idea, inspired by radio communication and is made for connecting people to each other again. The space is a form of exposure therapy, including 4 stages, the cleanse, private listening & speaking pods, an exposure journey for transitional spaces between each and a final space where people can speak to each other again, and connect to each other. As they are going through a transformation, it reflects the process of metamorphosis.
Spatial Concept
As they are going through a transformation, I have chosen to be inspired by the process of metamorphosis. This process of change is shown through the four stages taken on the journey through the space. Forms from the anatomy of the butterfly have inspired the forms within the design, from the overall spatial planning to the smaller details like the railings. The space is perfectly symmetrical, and has four areas for the pods, like the four wings of a butterfly. The pathways of exposure take the form of the veining in the butterfly, leading the user to the pod spaces. They are believers of the true human voice.
