Decipher
The Telegraph System

2086 Narrative
In the 2086 world, seeking increased control, the government has systematically implemented the closure of public resources such as libraries. Government censorship and energy rationing has led to isolation among the population.
The rebel group, The Connectors, moved away from modern technology and back to an earlier communication system, the Telegraph. Setting up local networks, the connectors began to collect and record information, sharing their truth with the community.
The symbolic object, The Telegraph System, uses coded languages to connect. Initially developed using semaphore in the 18th century, later systems created and used morse code to communicate. The system is fundamentally a way of communication, using coded language models to transfer messages.
Spatial Concept
Through conceptual exploration Decipher has adapted and implemented the forms of the coded languages, semaphore and morse code.
Following The Connectors ritual, Decipher adapts the site into three spaces:
Communication Pods -
The space is formed of individual work stations, pods, for The Connectors to use the telegraph system and communicate with outside factions.
Auditorium -
Forming the central space of the project, The Connectors gather, debate, discuss and teach. The space uses a circular layout to promote connection and conversation with staggered seating and viewing platforms circulating the central podium.
Archive -
Creating a journey of discovery, the Archive contains solid monoliths, etched with The Connector's beliefs. Members travel through the space discovering their past.
