Project
Located on the site of a former cement plant in King’s Cross, the project transforms an industrial island, sandwiched between railroads, into a Music Education Institute. The site is situated between the corporate development of King’s Cross to the east, the local and cultural fabric of Somers Town to the west, and light industrial areas under pressure for transformation to the north. The project functions as a civic interface that reconnects these fragmented urban thresholds through music, education, rehearsal, performance, and public circulation.
Project
The design preserves the industrial memory of the former concrete plant, transforming silo forms into performance halls, learning spaces, and communal foyers. Bridges, elevated walkways, and internal streets make the structure more of a permeable public infrastructure than an enclosed educational building. Forking columns, a radial roof system, laminated glass facades, and acoustic timber interiors create an architectural construct where sound, structure, light, and public life are experienced together.
