This project, set between Ratcliffe-on-Soar’s cooling towers, reimagines post-industrial architecture as a resource rather than an eyesore. These large-scale concrete structures are now reimagined as a vertical community. A place where people live above their workplace, forming a new rhythm of life within a repurposed machine.
Inspired by the neighbouring Redhill Marina, where a community thrives by living and working with canal boats, this idea promotes alternative styles of life based on independence and craft . Superyachts will be constructed within the towers. The designers will reside above, linked by bridges that connect towers, homes, and lives.
‘In Echoes of a Living Machine, the future is built from the bones of the past - connected, collective, and lifestyle.’
