Silkstreet Playhouse

Theatres thrive when they challenge and enrich one another, offering audiences diverse experiences. This project will not stand alone but exist in dialogue. Sitting lightly atop the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, this lightweight timber structure will embody sustainability, flexibility and warmth in its brutalist surroundings. It will seamlessly integrate into the Barbican, extending the school’s artistic practice and enhancing the area’s cultural vibrancy.
