The Gamekeeper's Sanctuary

The Gamekeeper’s Sanctuary aims to transform Newark-on-Trent into a vibrant destination, where the generational gap narrows and memories and connections are treasured through the act of play. As younger generations embark on their journeys, many elderly individuals are left in solitude. This centre tackles isolation by creating inclusive, interactive spaces that foster well-being. Focused on haptic architecture and tactile experiences, visitors can learn, create, and enjoy board games, thereby deepening their connections with each other and the game. Inspired by the sustainable principles of monasteries, the design employs cost-effective and eco-friendly materials, as well as the values of modularity, direction, and connection.
